Omg, I donàted (on my own valuation) to Bernie's campaign and now I get emails and text messages 3 times a day asking for $27. First of all...what a weird figure. Not $25, not $30. Second of all, I feel like I did a good thing and now I'm being punished and bullied into doing more.

It's $27 because that was the average donation for the 2016 campaign, so it's kinda become a thing for that reason. The whole getting a bunch of emails thing, while annoying, is kind of a side effect of not relying on billionaire contributions. He relies on the normal people who support him, and someone who's supported before is more likely than a first-time supporter to contribute again.
